Stucco itself comes in several distinct types. Traditional stucco is comprised of water, sand, cement and lime applied in a three step process. Synthetic stucco is more flexible, less likely to crack and comes in numerous colors. Stucco EIFS (exterior insulation and finishing system) is also very flexible and has a base of insulation board to ensure against water damage and create maximum energy efficiency.

One stucco finish is known as wet dash. Texture is added by throwing sand against the wet mortar or brushing in strokes in circles or another pattern. This finish is relatively simple to complete.

Dry dash utilizes actual pebbles, shells or pieces of stone embedded in the stucco before it hardens. It is more difficult to affect a dry dash finish but it offers a striking appearance.

Float stucco is achieved when the final coating begins to harden, as well. Water is added to the surface with a brush for a beautiful texture.
